Fast food, ordinary Czech food, ethnic restaurants, decent restaurants and the less decent "tourists' traps" offering beautiful views and astronomical bills justified by the presence of famous international chefs (that goes for the more serious ones - others are just the view and the bill). There are all sorts, good, less good or bad. BUT: there is a hidden "pearl" among the Prague restaurants - one of the best-guarded secrets of the town.
In a small, unpretentious house on Mala Strana (Lesser Town), off the beaten tourist path, but
An evening at "David" is an all-encompassing experience. The place is exquisite, warmly decorated with good taste, featuring some beautiful antiques and contemporary paintings, the atmosphere is relaxing and intimate, and the moment you sit down - you feel this is a different world you have just entered. Just a few tables and the very personal attention of Lubomir Adamec or Libor Cernoch and the magic starts. IT IS A DANCE. IT IS A
LOVE AFFAIR. The food is prepared by the long time in-house chefs Petr Hranicka and Martin Sebesta so lovingly, exquisitely and knowledgably, that you immediately know, that you have never been treated so well, never eaten so well. The choice of dishes is remarkably varied for a relatively small place, and the vine and spirits cellar stores only the best.
This truly epicurean experience is really hard to forget. It is no wonder that this restaurant known to only the most discerning clientele has patrons from all over the world returning regularly for this very special dining experience. So if you are in the mood for a really delicious meal and a beautiful evening - take a walk, find this well guarded secret and enjoy yourself. And - if you happen to see Sean Connery, Andie MacDowell, Matt Damon or some other stars sitting next table - please, do not run to them to get an autograph.

Prices? Moderate - and well worth it.
